Job summary

Kids & Company is hiring a part-time cook to support daily kitchen operations in a busy childcare setting. The role covers a 7-week contract with 6 hours per day, focusing on nourishing meals and snacks for children with diverse dietary needs.

You will work under the Centre Director and coordinate with Head Office for weekly food orders. The ideal candidate holds a valid Food Handler Certification, 2–4 years cooking experience, and a background in childcare or related fields.

Qualifications

• Current Food Handler Certification.
• 2–4 years of experience as a Cook, Sous Chef or Chef.
• Experience in a childcare, school, healthcare, or long-term care environment is an asset.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driver's abstract.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Clear Criminal Record Check.

Responsibilities

• Prepare special meals and snacks for children with allergies, vegetarian diets, or other dietary requirements.
• Manage weekly ordering of food supplies and kitchen equipment through Head Office.
• Comply with all health, hygiene, and food safety regulations and legislation.
• Prepare food for field trips, school-age programs, and community events, as needed.
• Occasionally deliver prepared food to other childcare centres, if required.

About the Position

Position Type: Part-Time, Temporary Contract (7 Weeks)

Reporting to the Centre Director, this role is an integral member of the Kids & Company team, supporting the overall management of daily kitchen operations. The position is responsible for all food preparation and cooking while consistently applying Kids & Company standards to help achieve our mission.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced cook to contribute to a fast-paced childcare environment while covering a temporary leave. This part-time position is scheduled for 6 hours per day over a 7-week contract period .
