Job summary

Sienna Senior Living in Arnprior, ON, is seeking a Cook for our resident-focused dining program. Set up equipment, prepare meals to recipes, and ensure prescribed diets are served safely in portion-controlled quantities.

This role supports quality of service, trains new staff, and may assume operations in the team leader's absence. Must have Grade 12, Safe Food Handling/Smart Serve, and prior institutional cooking experience; eligibility to work in Canada required.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 minimum education required.
  • Valid Safe Food Handling Certificate and/or Smart Serve certificate.
  • Experience cooking in institutional, health care, restaurant, or hospitality.
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude necessary to meet the goals and standards of the residence.
  • You must be legally eligible to work in Canada or have a valid work permit.
  • You must successfully pass a Vulnerable Sector Check and/or Criminal Record Check applicable to the appropriate province.

Responsibilities

  • Setting up equipment and supplies for food preparation.
  • Preparing meals and snacks according to production sheets, recipes and other menu document as provided.
  • Providing for prescribed diets, at appropriate temperatures and in portion controlled quantities.
  • Monitoring quality of food supplies received and advises team leader of problems and makes recommendations about corrective action.
  • In the absence of the team leader, assumes responsibility for departmental operations including enu changes as necessary, requisitions and purchases food and other supplies from authorized suppliers.
  • Assisting in the orientation and training of new team members
  • Performing other duties as assigned

Must Haves
  • Grade 12 minimum education required

Additional Qualifications That Would Be Considered An Asset
  • Graduate of a recognized college food preparation program and willing to Red Seal certify
