Job summary

Agnico Eagle Mines Limited is seeking a Conventional Miner for Fly-In Fly-Out operations at its Meadowbank Complex in Canada. You will operate Dynominer equipment and ANFO loaders while adhering to health, safety and quality standards.

Reporting to the Underground Mine Supervisor, you will perform inspections, drilling to drawings, loading and blasting rounds, and site rehabilitation with proper bolt patterns. A strong safety mindset and relevant certifications are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Nunavut Arctic College certification or diploma in mineral extraction.
• Underground hard rock mining modular training certificate required.
• Explosives Regulations approval letter or equivalent document.
• Certification on Loading Unit and Production Scoop is an asset.
• PAL or Nexus Card or equivalent shall be considered.

Responsibilities

• Operate Dynominer equipment or ANFO loaders as directed.
• Work in accordance with health, safety and quality standards.
• Maintain safe and efficient operations meeting production targets.
• Perform daily equipment inspections and report issues.
• Inspect working environment and scale rocks as needed.
• Drill holes per drawings and specifications; load and blast rounds.
• Ensure rehabilitation of the site with proper bolt patterns.
• Support water, air and ventilation services using scissor lift/jackleg/stoper.
• Maintain team safety and participate in additional equipment as required.
• May obtain certification on additional equipment as career progress.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the Supervisor, Underground Mine, you will be part of the Mine Department. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

• Operate Dynominer equipment or ANFO lateral loaders (EC3 or AC3);
• Perform the work in accordance with our Health and Safety and quality standards;
• Work safely and efficiently, meeting the desired production requirements;
• Perform daily equipment inspections;
• Inspect your working environment by scaling rocks;
• Drill the holes according to drawings and specifications;
• Load and blast the rounds;
• Ensure the rehabilitation of the site by using proper bolt patterns;
• Participate in the implementation of water, air and ventilation services using the scissor lift, jackleg and stoper;
• Ensure the health and safety of you and your team during work;
• Operate other equipment associated to the production category as required;
• Obtaining certification on other equipment associated to the production category may be required;
• Complete work orders;
• May be required to participate for the preparation of production stope;
• May be required to operate other equipment associated to the development category (ref: Career Path);
• May be required to obtain certification on other equipment associated to the development category (ref: Career Path).

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

• 2000 hours on the Dynominer equipment or ANFO lateral loaders (EC3 or AC3);
• 4000 hours in development work, such as face loading, pipe work, ventilation work, manual ground support, clean face, etc.;
• High School Diploma;
• Nunavut Arctic College (NAC) Certification or diploma in mineral extraction, or equivalent;
• Underground hard rock mining modular training certificate or equivalent is required for the position;
• Valid Approval Letter under the Explosives Regulations or equivalent document such as Explosives Permit, PAL or Nexus Card;
• Certification on other equipment in the development category such as Loading Unit and Production Scoop - 12yds is considered an asset;.

Note that the official working language at our Meadowbank Complex is English.

Your Work Schedule:

• Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest;
• Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
