Job summary

Agnico Eagle Mines Limited is seeking an Assistant General Supervisor, Underground Mine to lead underground operations and ensure safe, efficient execution of the mine plan. You will coordinate ramp-up activities, manage shift objectives, and monitor resources to meet production targets.

Schedule: 21 days on, 21 days off with flights from Edmonton, AB and Yellowknife, NWT. On-site accommodations and meals are provided; charter flights are available and travel support depends on residence in

Qualifications

  • 5–6 years of experience in mining operations.
  • Excellent leadership skills with supervisory experience.
  • Experience in project start-up and operational readiness.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Working knowledge of Deswik OPS is a strong asset.

Responsibilities

  • Support all underground mining activities while ensuring safe, efficient, data-driven execution of the mine plan.
  • Coordinate resources required for development ramp-up and a smooth transition to production.
  • Communicate production objectives at the start of each shift and conduct end-of-shift reviews with frontline supervisors.
  • Monitor workforce and equipment utilization to achieve targets.
  • Coordinate underground construction activities and QA/QC oversight.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance, Mining Engineering, Geology and Construction to optimize planning and execution.
  • Support evaluation and optimization of underground mining technologies and systems.
  • Promote a strong safety culture through visible leadership and field presence.

Your next challenge

Reporting to the General Supervisor, Underground Mine, you will be part of the Mine department. You will be responsible for supporting all underground mining activities while ensuring safe, efficient, and data-driven execution of the mine plan. The role also includes coordinating activities and resources required to ensure a smooth transition to production. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle's values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and the environment.

Support operational readiness activities and manage the resources required for development ramp-up and a smooth transition to production;

Communicate production objectives and expectations at the start of each shift, and conduct end-of-shift reviews with frontline supervisors to assess performance against the plan, identify variances and implement corrective actions as required;

Monitor workforce and equipment utilization, adjusting priorities as required to achieve production and development targets;

Coordinate underground construction activities, including infrastructure projects and raisebore-related work;

Perform regular underground inspections and provide QA/QC oversight of mining activities to verify work quality, safety compliance, adherence to mine designs and operational standards;

Work closely with internal departments, including Maintenance, Mining Engineering, Geology and Construction, to optimize planning, resource allocation, and operational execution;

Support the evaluation, implementation and optimization of underground mining technologies, automation initiatives, and operational systems to improve mine performance and support future growth;

Participate actively in the development and implementation of departmental procedures, operating standards, and best practices;

Ensure and promote a strong safety culture through visible leadership, regular field presence, and adherence to Agnico Eagle's Health & Safety standards;

Coach and mentor frontline supervisors to ensure consistent execution of departmental objectives, while supporting employee development, performance management, and workforce engagement initiatives.

What you need to succeed

5-6 years of experience in mining operations;

Excellent leadership skills with supervisory experience;

Experience in project start-up and operational readiness an asset;

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint;

Working knowledge of Deswik OPS is a strong asset.

Your work schedule

Schedule: 21 days of work, followed by 21 days for transportation and rest; flights departing from Edmonton, AB and Yellowknife, NWT.

Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
