Job summary

Agnico Eagle Mines Limited is hiring a Construction Miner for the Meadowbank Complex on a Fly-In Fly-Out schedule. You will construct, repair and maintain structures using wood, steel and concrete, while obeying safety rules and environmental practices.

Responsibilities include reading blueprints, building foundations and walls, and operating mining and construction equipment. Accommodations and meals are provided; flights to site are arranged.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma.
  • Experience in an industrial welding environment with manuals and schematics.
  • WBC Certification is considered an asset.
  • Inter-Provincial (Red Seal) Certification and High Pressure Certification are considered an asset.
  • NAC Certification or DEP in Mineral Extraction, or equivalent.
  • Underground Certification or equivalent, such as Mining Modules and Common Core are considered an asset.
  • Valid approval letter under the explosives regulations or equivalent, such as explosive permit.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements.
  • Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems.
  • Fit and install trim items, such as doors, stairs, molding and hardware.
  • Work in compliance with building codes and safety requirements.
  • Operate equipment like jackleg, stoper, shotcrete machine, zoom boom, scissor lift and welding machine.
  • Build form following drawings and concrete pouring.
  • Strip wood and steel during rehabilitation.
  • Prepare and maintain records for construction materials.
  • Complete work orders.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the Supervisor, Underground Mine, you will be part of the Mine Department. You will construct, erect, install, maintain, and repair structures and fixtures made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steels and other materials such as plastic, concrete and drywall. You may build tunnel bracing, brattices, and underground passageways. You will lead construction projects and ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved, while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements
  • Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems, such as Bulkhead
  • Fit and install trim items, such as doors, stairs, molding and hardware
  • Work in compliance with federal and provincial building codes, as well as related regulatory and safety requirements and legislation
  • Operate various construction and mining equipment, such as jackleg, stoper, shotcrete machine, zoom boom, scissor lift and welding machine
  • Build form following the drawing and floor concrete pouring
  • Strip wood and steel when performing rehabilitation
  • Prepare and maintain records for construction materials
  • Complete work orders
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
  • High School Diploma.
  • Experience in an industrial welding environment with working knowledge of manuals, and schematics.
  • WBC Certification is considered an asset.
  • Inter-Provincial (Red Seal) Certification and High Pressure Certification are considered an asset.
  • NAC Certification or DEP in Mineral Extraction, or equivalent.
  • Underground Certification or equivalent, such as Mining Modules and Common Core are considered anasset.

Note that the official working language at Meadowbank Complex is English.

Your Work Schedule:

Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest;

Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
