  • Host: greet guests, provide directions, answer questions, support crowd management.
  • Work flexible shifts and overtime on a casual basis.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job description

The Calgary TELUS Convention Centre is looking to hire casual Convention Centre Hosts on a term basis from September 2026 to May 31, 2027. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Event Services, the Convention Centre Host is responsible for greeting and assisting clients and guests with directional and informational inquiries. This position also provides coat check services and registration desk assistance, such as ticket-taking, on an as-needed basis.

Duties and Responsibilities

Coat Check

  • Prepare, set up, and tear down equipment and signage for coat check services.
  • Maintain the check-in, storage, and release of guests’ items in coat check.
  • Provide cash and payment services, while adhering to payment handling policies and procedures.
  • Manage the stock and distribution of tickets upon request (e.g., taxi chits).
  • Registration desk assistance as required.

Host

  • Greet and provide way-finding services and answer questions from clients and guests on various activities while attending events in the facility.
  • Assist with event crowd management strategies.

Requirement to work flexible shifts and overtime hours as required on a casual basis.

Other duties as assigned.

Seeks guidance on the quality and the degree of completion required for completing new tasks. Re-prioritizes as new deadlines are set. Responds constructively to feedback on task output.

  • Physically fit to have the ability to lift heavy weight (up to 40lbs).
