Job summary

Trane Technologies in Markham, Ontario is seeking a Controls Estimator II to develop detailed cost estimates for HVAC control projects and building automation. You will work with account managers to build competitive bids, define scope from design-build plans, and price equipment with accurate quantity take-offs.

The role requires a degree in engineering or related field with 3–7 years of estimating or controls experience.

Qualifications

Associates or Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field; practical experience accepted.
Proven experience with Building Automation, HVAC Controls and HVAC Systems.
Knowledge of construction: mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems preferred.
Strong financial and business acumen with track record of on-time, on-budget projects.

Responsibilities

Prepare cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractors for HVAC control projects.
Develop scope based on design-build plans and competitive bid documents.
Create detailed cost proposals with sketches, definitions, exclusions and vendor quotes.
Take-off and price purchased equipment ensuring correct quantities and specs.
Conduct pre-bid meetings with Account Managers to review scope and strategy.
Identify cost-saving opportunities and risk items across projects.
