Job description
Overview

Controls Electrician

As a key member of the Production team, you will maintain high manufacturing efficiencies while delivering a quality product in a safe and clean environment.

Shifts Available: Day Shift 7:00am – 3:15pm

Responsibilities
  • Respond to manufacturing machinery problems, troubleshoot and diagnose problems and make repairs, program changes as necessary.
  • Build and wire panels and implement controls as needed for existing equipment and new upgrades.
  • Inspect and examine machinery and electrical equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions.
  • Service the requirements of the Packaging department. This includes the setup, repair and preventative maintenance of the equipment.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and related repairs on plant equipment, transformers, breaker panels, VFD’s control panels, etc.
  • Providing consultation and assistance to packaging staff on an as needed basis during changeovers and adjustments
  • Assisting packaging personnel in test running all components of the line.
  • Facilitate efficient line operation by:
    • Providing training, consultation and assistance to packaging staff on an as needed basis during line operation.
    • Reviewing ongoing packaging machine downtime and participating in corrective action as required.
    • Work as a team with the packaging staff to help trouble shoot and resolve mechanical / electrical problems as required by the maintenance Manager.
Qualifications
  • Experience with PLC, AB, Omron, Siemens, studio 5000, RS Logix 5000, Factory talk view are all assets.
  • 1-3 years as a certified Electrician preferred with 442A or 309A Certificate. Ark flash an asset
  • Basic computer, math and writing skills.
  • Experience in high-speed packaging equipment, fillers, cappers, labelers, coders, conveyors, and parts fabrication an asset. Should possess some mechanical aptitude to assist with minor mechanical repairs as needed.
  • Troubleshooting skills
  • Works well in a team setting as well as the ability to work independently.
