Job summary

Confidential Construction Group in Canada is seeking a Canadian Controller to lead the accounting function for the Canadian division, partnering with executive and operational leadership to drive financial performance.

The ideal candidate will bring 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, strong WIP/project costing expertise, and the ability to act as a strategic business partner while mentoring the accounting team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CPA designation or equivalent preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Experience in construction, manufacturing, engineering, industrial services, or other project-based environments.
• Strong background in WIP accounting, project accounting, cost accounting, or job costing.
• Proven ability to lead and develop accounting staff.
• Strong analytical, communication, and Excel skills.
• Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Canadian accounting team.
• Manage month-end and year-end financial close processes.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
• Drive project costing, job cost analysis, and profitability reporting.
• Manage Work-in-Progress (WIP) calculations and cost accounting activities.
• Strengthen internal controls and accounting processes.
