Job summary

Plan Group is seeking a Building Operator to ensure smooth operation of our facility in Markham, Ontario. The role includes inspecting systems, monitoring performance, and performing minor repairs to electrical and mechanical infrastructure, including UPS and HVAC.

Candidates should be able to troubleshoot quickly and maintain accurate maintenance records. Shifts are 12 hours, including days, afternoons, and nights.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years experience in mission-critical facilities.
• Experience in union and non-union environments.
• Strong understanding of electrical/mechanical systems, UPS, generators, HVAC; Fire Alarm Systems.
• BES certification is a plus.
• Troubleshoot technical issues promptly and effectively.
• Detail-oriented with thorough maintenance documentation.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks (lifting heavy equipment, confined spaces).

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and support staff for seamless operations.
• Be prepared for emergencies, providing expertise to minimize disruptions.
• Improve operational procedures and implement best practices for data center efficiency and reliability.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Experienced in working with critical facilities in both union and non-union environments.
• Strong understanding of electrical/mechanical systems, UPS, generators, HVAC; Fire Alarm Systems.
• BES and relevant certifications are a plus.
• Proven ability to promptly and effectively troubleshoot technical issues.
• Detail-oriented, ensuring optimal system function and thorough maintenance documentation.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks (lifting heavy equipment, working in confined spaces).

Work Conditions:

• Location: Markham, ON
• Rotating shifts (12 hours each), including days, afternoons, and nights
• $30-$38/hour (open to renegotiation based on experience).
