Job summary

Plan Group Inc. is seeking a Building Operator in Markham, ON to ensure smooth facility operation across critical infrastructure.

The role involves inspecting systems, monitoring performance, and performing minor repairs to electrical and mechanical systems including UPS, generators, HVAC and fire alarm systems. The position requires 2–3 years in mission-critical facilities, experience in union and non-union environments, strong troubleshooting and documentation skills, and the ability to work

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of experience in mission-critical facilities such as data centres.
• Experience with critical facilities in union and non-union environments is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, UPS, generators, HVAC and fire alarm systems.
• BES and relevant certifications are a plus.
• Ability to troubleshoot technical issues promptly and effectively.
• Detail-oriented with thorough maintenance documentation.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Physically capable of demanding tasks (lifting heavy equipment, confined spaces).

Responsibilities

• Follow all safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
• Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and support staff for seamless operations.
• Be prepared for emergencies, providing expertise to minimize disruptions.
• Improve operational procedures and implement best practices for data center efficiency and reliability.

Work Conditions

• Location: Markham, ON
• Rotating shifts (12 hours each), including days, afternoons, and nights
• $30-$38/hour (open to renegotiation based on experience).
