Job summary

AMA Driver Education in Red Deer is seeking a Contracted Class 5 Driving Instructor. You’ll deliver in-vehicle instruction to students, following AMA and Alberta Transportation guidelines, while helping learners gain confidence and licensing qualifications.

Earn an hourly rate starting at $35.00 with potential bonuses up to $7.00 more per hour and a fuel subsidy. Learn to operate your own small business with AMA’s marketing support and training.

Qualifications

• Must hold Provincial Driving Instructor Licence (Class 5) from Alberta Transportation.
• Have held a Class 1–5 licence for at least 3 years.
• Ability to obtain a Class 4 licence.
• Clean driver’s abstract required.
• Must own a vehicle and cover start-up costs for vehicle add-ons and insurance.
• Incorporation will be required on hire; WCB number required after training.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality vehicle instruction to students following AMA requirements.
• Follow Alberta Transportation guidelines for Driving Instructors.
• Give constructive feedback to help students become licensed and safe drivers for life.
• Be available after school, evenings and weekends to accommodate student schedules.

What You’ll Do As An Instructor

• Reporting to the Field Manager, you will provide quality vehicle instruction to students, following AMA’s instruction requirements and customer service standards.
• Follow Alberta Transportation guidelines and policies for Driving Instructors.
• Provide constructive feedback on student drivers’ abilities, helping them develop the confidence and skills necessary to become licensed, safe drivers for life.
• Be available after school, evenings, and weekends, to meet students' scheduling needs.

Summary Of Requirements

• You have your Provincial Driving Instructor Licence (Class 5) from Alberta Transportation. (Don’t worry, training will be provided to suitable candidates who don’t have this certification.)
• You’ve had a Class 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 licence for a minimum of 3 years.
• Ability to obtain a Class 4 licence.
• You have a clean driver’s abstract.
• You have your own vehicle.
• You can cover required start-up costs after completing training and acquiring your instructor license (vehicle add-ons, SEF 6D Endorsement insurance, and incorporating).
• Please note – being incorporated will be required upon hire and obtaining a WCB number will be required upon completion of training.
