Job summary

Peterson Group Properties is seeking an Intermediate Property Accountant to join our commercial property accounting team on a one-year contract in Vancouver. The role reports to the Controller, Properties, and focuses on accurate, timely financials for assigned accounts within our portfolio.

The ideal candidate has 2–3 years’ experience in property accounting and is proactive with strong Excel and Yardi 7 skills, capable of meeting tight deadlines and supporting budgeting and ad-hoc reporting.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years’ experience preparing and justifying accurate financial statements in a property accounting environment.
• Completion of a College diploma or certificate in Accounting.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel; experience with Yardi 7 is required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly and annual financial statements and working papers for assigned client portfolio.
• Communicate with Property Managers and Leasing Team to ensure reporting needs are understood.
• Assist with annual budget preparation and monitor monthly variances.
• Identify issues and discuss solutions with management.
• Apply knowledge of residential and commercial accounting processes to communicate and resolve queries.
