Job summary

Winchesters is seeking a Property Accountant to join our accounting team in Toronto. You will support monthly reporting for an assigned portfolio of properties, ensuring accurate entries and timely reconciliations.

Ideal candidates have 1–2+ years property accounting, exposure to CAM/TAX reconciliations, and strong Yardi experience. CPA not required, multi-property exposure a plus, and excellent attention to detail is essential.

Qualifications

• 1–2+ years of property accounting experience.
• Yardi experience is required.
• Commercial property accounting experience is preferred.
• Exposure to CAM/TAX reconciliations and recoveries is considered an asset.
• Experience with month-end accounting, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• CPA designation is not required.

Responsibilities

• Complete monthly accounting and financial reporting for an assigned portfolio of properties.
• Prepare journal entries, accruals, amortizations, and account reconciliations.
• Assist with month-end and year-end accounting processes.
• Review property revenues and expenses and investigate variances.
• Complete bank, mortgage, and other balance sheet reconciliations.
• Prepare and remit HST as required.
• Assist with tenant billings and CAM/TAX recovery reconciliations.
• Review tenant accounts receivable and assist with collections, adjustments, and other tenant account matters.
• Support accounts payable and ensure expenses are appropriately coded to properties.
• Assist with annual property budgets and supporting schedules.
• Prepare year-end working papers and documentation.
• Work closely with Property Managers and other members of the accounting team to resolve property-level accounting matters.
• Maintain accurate property and tenant accounting information within Yardi.
• Assist with additional accounting projects and reporting as required.

This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional with 1–2+ years of property accounting experience who is looking to continue developing their experience within the real estate and property management industry.

• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work effectively with accounting and property management teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
