Douglas College is seeking a passionate contract instructor for the Political Science Department for Summer 2025. The role involves teaching courses, facilitating learning, and providing academic support in a collaborative environment. Candidates must hold a doctoral degree in political science or be nearing completion, with experience in teaching diverse student groups.
Hourly: $52.41 to $114.65 per hour. Per Three Credit Course: $7,947.
Actual salary or hourly rate will be based on the number of credits and term of appointment according to the Collective Agreement.

As an instructor in the Political Science Department, you will instruct students, facilitate learning, and evaluate student progress in College Political Science courses. You will also be responsible for planning, organizing, and managing learning activities and resources, providing academic advice to learners, and maintaining quality learner-centered instruction. The successful candidate will be able to teach Introduction to World Politics (POLI 1103) during the Summer 2025 term.
The successful candidate(s) must possess a doctoral degree in political science from an accredited post-secondary institution or be near completion of a doctoral degree; have an academic background in World Politics/International Relations; and have teaching experience at the post-secondary level. They must be able to work both independently and in a team environment. Additionally, they should demonstrate a strong commitment to students and an excellent ability to teach diverse student groups.
Additional Information
The successful candidate(s) must be able to teach face-to-face classes at the Douglas College Campus in New Westminster.
