Douglas College is seeking a faculty instructor to teach Chemistry courses at its Coquitlam and New Westminster campuses. Job description

Overview

Hourly: $52.41 to $114.65 per hour per Three Credit Course: $7,716. Actual salary or hourly rate will be based on the number of credits and term of appointment according to the Collective Agreement.

The Chemistry Department offers a wide range of preparatory and first‑ and second‑year university transfer courses. As an instructor, you will instruct students, facilitate learning, and evaluate student progress in College Chemistry courses. You will also be responsible for planning, organising, and managing learning activities and resources, providing academic advice to learners, and maintaining quality learner‑centered instruction.

You will be able to teach both classroom and laboratory environments and must be able to teach face‑to‑face classes at either of the two Douglas College campuses, in New Westminster and Coquitlam.

Responsibilities
  • Instruct students, facilitate learning, and evaluate student progress in College Chemistry courses.
  • Plan, organise, and manage learning activities and resources.
  • Provide academic advice to learners and maintain quality learner‑centered instruction.
Qualifications
  • Earned degree in a major area of Chemistry (minimum M.Sc., Ph.D. preferred).
  • Teaching experience at the post‑secondary level.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong verbal and written English language skills.
  • Knowledge to teach some second‑year chemistry courses is an asset.
