This role is open across Canada, but requires the contractor to be on-site at the client location in Calgary from Monday to Friday for the duration of a 4-week contract. Please provide an all-inclusive rate when applying for this role.

Our client manages a legacy database environment that receives data from multiple retail applications. It is primarily used for business intelligence but also functions as an operational database in some cases. They aim to migrate from this legacy system to a cloud data lake, including moving data ingestion and extraction methods from custom code to industry standards.

The deliverable is a solution architecture and migration plan, to be included in an SOW for client approval for a longer-term project. Ideally, the individual who creates this architecture and plan would be involved in the broader project.

Required Skills:

• Experience designing scalable, robust architecture aligned with business goals and technical requirements, including creating diagrams, data flows, and ensuring system interoperability.
• Ability to contribute to creating a roadmap and plan (resources, effort, duration, and cost) for the proposed solution.
• Experience with ETL processes, especially custom C++ and UNIX batch jobs.
• Proficiency in data integration from multiple sources and formats.
• Expertise in managing and designing databases.
• Experience with Data Lakes on AWS.
• Knowledge of Spark and Kafka for handling large data volumes and real-time processing.
