Qualifications

Be part of this transformative journey and help us create a lasting impact for generations to come. We are seeking a skilled Contract Administrator (Prime Contract) to join our dynamic team. The Contract Administrator will work within the commercial team, report to the Contract Manager, and will be responsible for drafting correspondence and reports, collaborating with other teams to gather information, maintaining digital records and registers, and assisting the Contract Manager in administering complex prime contract functions of the JV project.

Main Responsibilities

  • Contract Administration:
  • Understand the project agreement and interpret the complex prime contract of the project.
  • Provide contractual advice to team members based on the interpretation of the contract.
  • Administer change processes according to contract requirements, coordinating with design and construction teams to prepare change estimates.
  • Understand the technical, contractual, and commercial requirements of the project.
  • Collaborate with team members to gather information and draft contractual correspondence.
  • Draft reports on issues, potential disputes, and disputes for relevant audiences.
  • Work closely with project teams to explore contractual issues and present findings to management.
  • Maintain digital records, gather invoices and daily reports, and generate various reports for management.
  • Be commercially aware and sensitive when dealing with contractual issues.
  • Generate management reports, resolve contractual issues, and facilitate dispute resolution.
  • Attend meetings as required to support contractual functions.
  • Monitor contractual deadlines and flag concerns proactively.
  • Draft contractual letters, reports, and other correspondence.
  • Support the drafting of regular contractual reports, including monthly Construction Payment Reports for the city.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Contract or Commercial Manager.

Claims Coordination

  • Develop chronological facts for ongoing and potential claims through information mining.
  • Work with project teams to explore contractual issues and present findings to the Claims Lead.
  • Draft reports on disputes and issues.
  • Analyze and process claim documents, ensuring review and submission within deadlines.
  • Maintain records of claims and cost recovery events.
  • Coordinate with legal teams for reviews.
  • Generate management reports and facilitate dispute resolution.
  • Coordinate with scheduling and construction teams to review information.
  • Attend relevant meetings as needed.

Requirements

Essential Skills:

  • Proven experience in a similar contract administration role.
  • Excellent drafting skills for contractual letters and notices.
  • Ability to interpret contractual requirements and foresee consequences.
  • Attention to detail and strong follow-up skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with Power BI is a plus.
  • Strong research skills.
  • Understanding of contractual and commercial risks.
  • Collaborative work style.
  • Willingness to learn and expand responsibilities.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Degree in construction, engineering, legal, quantity surveying, or business administration.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in contract management, preferably on major infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with legal documents, contracts, and dispute resolution.
  • Experience with fixed-price lump sum contracts.
  • Credentials such as MRICS, MCIArb, ACIArb are preferred.
  • Ability to travel (<5%) to construction sites.
  • Willing to relocate to Edmonton, Alberta.

Recommended Skills / Experience:

  • Experience with Light Rail Transit projects.
  • Experience in P3 projects.
  • Knowledge of project scheduling and delay analysis.
  • Understanding of project costs and commercial concepts.
  • Ability to join the team on short notice.
