Job summary

A contract administrator role supports project controls on mining construction projects in Ontario. You will review contracts, participate in strategy, manage change notices, and coordinate with site teams to ensure contractual milestones are met.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree and 3–5 years of contract administration experience, with strong analytical skills, English proficiency, and MS Office expertise.

Qualifications

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Mining and/or large-scale construction project experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork abilities; effective communication.
  • Advanced English language skills, written and spoken.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in contractual approach and contractual strategy with pre-award team.
  • Examining, analyzing and revising contracts involving purchase or sale of goods or services.
  • Review drawings, specifications and contracts to ensure proper ordering and purchasing.
  • Management of contract work relating to contracts.
  • Establish or negotiate contractual conditions for contract change.
  • Organize and lead site weekly meetings with contractors.
  • Monitor delivery schedules, work progress and communicate with customers and suppliers to solve problems.
  • Collaborate with construction managers, superintendent, engineers, and others to meet project objectives.
  • Manage contractual change notices.
  • Prepare payment certification and cash flow forecast.
  • Claims administration and negotiation.
  • Maintain contract change logs and registers as per project instructions.
  • Drive deliverables and inputs as required from quantity surveyors.
  • Contract close-out.

Job description

The Contract Administrator reports to the Project Control Superintendent and works in close collaboration with his/her team members, as well as members of the other departments. The incumbent should be aware of all detailed project contract and sub‑contract documents, including the plans and specifications described in the contract documents. They play an important part in the construction activities follow‑up at the project site. The Contract Administrator ensures goals and objectives are attained, while promoting and respecting company culture, health and safety code of conduct, and the environment.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in the contractual approach and contractual strategy with pre award team;
  • Examining, analyzing and revising contracts that involve the purchase or sale of goods or services such as equipment, materials, supplies, or products;
  • Review of drawings, specifications and contracts to ensure that appropriate equipment, materials and subcontractor services are ordered or purchased;
  • Management of contract work relating to contracts;
  • Do trend associated to contract;
  • Establish or negotiate contractual conditions for contract change;
  • Organize and lead site weekly meetings with contractors;
  • Monitor delivery schedules, work progress and communicate with customers and suppliers to solve problems;
  • Collaborate with construction managers, superintendent, engineers, and others to ensure project objectives are met;
  • Manage contractual change notices

  • Maintain various contract change notice log and registers as per project specific instructions;
  • Drive the deliverables and inputs as required from the quantity surveyors;

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in administration, finance, law, engineering, or another relevant field;
  • 3-5 years of experience in contract administration;
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, understanding of common legal terms;
  • Mining and/or large‑scale construction project experience;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills and ability to work in a team;
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office software especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint;
  • Advanced English language skills, written and spoken;
