Job summary

NAIT is seeking an energetic instructor for its Advanced Welding Technology program. The role focuses on curriculum development, instructional delivery, and student assessment in a postsecondary setting.

You will lead classroom and lab teaching with industry-aligned practices, maintain student records, and collaborate with colleagues and industry partners to advance the program and student success. A strong commitment to student achievement is essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.
• Completion of Alberta Welder Journeyperson certificate or provincial equivalent.
• Inter-Provincial Red Seal is preferred.
• Alberta B-Pressure Welder qualification is an asset.
• Welding Automation training and experience would be an asset.
• Minimum 5 years recent industry experience after completion of Journeyperson certificate.
• Additional relevant post-secondary education and/or professional development training is an asset.
• Teaching experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and present learning outcomes and activities in a classroom, laboratory and industry setting.
• Participate in curriculum development, program reviews and course reviews
• Facilitate the learning process by utilizing instructional strategies that ensure efficient and effective delivery of course materials
• Manage instructional delivery and set the tone and climate for a safe and effective learning environment
• Create assessment tools to evaluate the learning process and maintain progress records
• Provide early and on-going coaching and tutoring for students to maximize student success and retention
• Respond to student issues
• Utilize appropriate educational technology for presentations, communications and program promotions
• Maintenance and/or submission of program/student records accurately and promptly
• Maintain professional and ethical relationships with students, colleagues, and industry partners
• Actively participate in the strategies of NAIT's Strategic Plan and Academic Plan
• Utilize regular student feedback to identify and implement instructional improvement
• Improve the quality of instruction through professional development activities
• Other duties as assigned

They will bring strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, along with proven experience delivering adult education in a postsecondary or skills-based learning environment. Proficiency with a variety of computer programs and systems, as well as the ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively, is essential.

The successful candidate will also possess solid and relevant industry experience and will be committed to championing student success through academic excellence. Responsibilities include curriculum development and instructional delivery; assessment, evaluation, and maintenance of student progress and academic records; and active participation in student support services and program operational activities.

Note: Those candidates who are successful in the interview process will be required to perform practical testing components related to the technical portion of the position.

Classification – Instructor

This position is covered by the NAIT Academic Staff Association (NASA) Collective Agreement.

Remuneration: Refer to salary range noted on this posting, plus a comprehensive benefits package. Will commensurate with education and experience.

Note: Starting salary for new instructor hires average mid-range based on education and experience.

The compensation range for this job posting is : $69,189.78 - $120,361.23
