Job summary

Bird is seeking a Construction Yard Lead Hand to supervise yard staff and support the Equipment Manager. You will help dispatch and track tools and materials, contribute to safety initiatives, and coordinate deliveries from the Construction Yard.

The role requires hands-on leadership, basic MS Office skills, and the ability to work with project teams to keep operations smooth. A background in construction yards and familiarity with tools, scaffolding, and concrete is preferred; class 3 license

Qualifications

• Experience in a construction yard or with a general contractor.
• Basic knowledge of construction tools, equipment and materials; mechanical knowledge is a plus.
• Familiarity with forming, scaffolding, concrete and heating systems.
• Ability to work safely and promote safety per Bird's program.
• Basic computer skills and MS Office proficiency.
• Strong leadership and supervision experience.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily yard activities and staff assignments; provide updates to Equipment Manager.
• Lead yard staff with guidance while fostering a collaborative environment.
• Assist with equipment and tools management, including inventory, inspections, maintenance and repairs.
• Ensure dispatching, return and recording of equipment and tools.
• Assist with delivery planning and perform deliveries as required.
• Complete delivery/receiving reports, dispatch lists, purchase orders and timesheets.
• Communicate with project teams to ensure smooth operations and project support.
• Perform other duties assigned by the Equipment Manager.
