Job summary

Quarry Hills Excavation & Gravel Ltd. in Brandon, MB is seeking a Construction Surveyor / Estimator who combines field surveying with estimating and project support. You will work with operations and project management to survey, measure, and deliver projects from planning through completion.

Qualifications

• Proficiency operating GPS, total station, or similar surveying equipment.
• Strong understanding of surveying principles, construction layouts, and quantity calculations.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar software is considered an asset.
• Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform construction layout and field surveying using GPS and surveying equipment.
• Establish and maintain accurate project control points.
• Conduct grade checks and verify elevations throughout construction.
• Complete quantity takeoffs and field measurements to support estimating and project progress.
• Assist in preparing estimates for excavation, sewer & water, and earthworks projects.
• Review construction drawings, specifications, and site conditions.
• Collaborate with project managers, supervisors, and field crews to ensure designs align with site conditions.
• Prepare and maintain accurate survey records, reports, and documentation.
• Manage and convert survey data using software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, DWG, CSV, and related formats.
• Assist with project planning, permitting, and ongoing project support as required.

Quarry Hills Excavation & Gravel Ltd. is one of Westman's fastest growing civil contractors, specializing in excavation, sewer & water infrastructure, earthworks, and gravel services. We are seeking a detail-oriented Construction Surveyor / Estimator to join our growing team.

This role combines field surveying with estimating and project support, making it an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys both fieldwork and office-based planning. Working closely with our operations and project management teams, you\'ll help ensure projects are accurately surveyed, measured, estimated, and delivered efficiently from planning through completion.

Requirements

• Experience in construction surveying, civil construction, geomatics, estimating, or a related field.
