Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree or equivalent in Career and Work Counseling, Adult Education, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in case management, workforce development, or skills training.
  • Knowledge of newcomer settlement and Employment Ontario sectors with understanding of challenges faced by immigrants, newcomers, women and youth.
  • Strong understanding of foreign credential recognition systems, regulatory bodies, and educational equivalency in Ontario.
  • Travel within Ontario with valid driver's license and access to reliable vehicle.
  • Willingness and ability to work evenings and weekends as required by the project.

Responsibilities

  • Support clients in understanding and navigating foreign credential recognition processes, including educational assessments and licensing requirements.
  • Assist clients in completing credential equivalency applications through designated organizations (e.g., WES, ICAS, regulatory bodies).
  • Conduct in-depth needs assessments to identify skills gaps and align clients with training programs or bridging initiatives.
  • Facilitate group sessions and one-on-one guidance on skills development, certifications, and pathways into construction and trades.
  • Develop individualized learning and career action plans in collaboration with clients.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, referrals, and follow-up to ensure progress and address challenges in training or credential processes.
  • Maintain accurate client records in CRM and case management systems.
  • Collaborate with credentialing bodies, training providers, and industry partners to stay ahead of changes and advocate for clients.
  • Work with employment counselors, job developers, project lead, and external partners to create holistic service plans.
  • Track and report on service outcomes and progress for internal and funder reporting.
  • Host and participate in career-related workshops and sector-specific events.
  • Promote Build HER Future program across Ontario communities.
