Job summary

Blue Door seeks an Employment Development Coordinator to bridge training and employment in the construction sector. You will build employer partnerships, provide tailored job readiness support, and guide program graduates into meaningful roles within trades.

You will coordinate with training staff, conduct participant meetings, and develop customized pathways while promoting a collaborative team environment and strong, values-led service delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 1–2 years of work experience in social work, employment services, workforce development, or related fields.
• Knowledge of resources in York, Durham and Peel regions.
• Ability to travel between York, Durham and Peel regions.
• Knowledge of construction/trades sector is an asset.
• Excellent communication, time management, problem solving and organizational skills.
• Computer literacy including Microsoft Office; experience with Learn Dash and social media is an asset.
• Clear Vulnerable Sector Screening police check required.
• Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, clear driving abstract and insurance.
• Valid First Aid/CPR.

Responsibilities

• Build and strengthen relationships with recruiting organizations, unions and private sector employers.
• Collaborate with employer and union partners to identify workforce needs and barriers to success.
• Support employers’ involvement in training programs, including guest speakers and job fairs.
• Expand Construct’s network by securing new partnerships and measuring impact.
• Conduct one-on-one meetings to align trade interests with apprenticeship or employment paths.
• Provide career counseling and job readiness support (resume, mock interviews, coaching).
• Offer ongoing employment coaching for graduates up to 12 months post-completion.
• Coordinate with training staff to ensure curriculum meets industry needs and employer expectations.
• Develop customized training pathways by liaising with employers or partners.
• Incorporate employer insights into curriculum through guest speakers or mentors.
• Coordinate with managers and staff to support participants during and after programs.
• Work with on-site staff to address issues and promote CPI-based conflict resolution.
• Explore new opportunities to grow the program and resources.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
