Job summary

Agnico Eagle Mines Limited is seeking a Construction Miner for the Detour Lake Mine in Ontario. You will join the Underground Mine Operations Department, performing critical ground support, concrete work, and equipment operation to maintain safe and efficient operations.

The role requires lifting 50 lbs regularly, operating LHDs and other underground equipment, and reading blueprints. Travel and site accommodations are provided as needed in a 14/14 schedule.

Qualifications

  • Must be physically capable of lifting and carrying 50 lbs regularly.
  • Proficient in operating underground mining equipment (LHDs, scissor lifts, forklifts, boom trucks, etc.).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and rebar schematics; good literacy and numeracy.
  • Experience with ground support installation and concrete work is an asset.
  • Valid CWB ticket is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to mining regulations and prioritize health and safety.
  • Follow mine site procedures, policies and processes.
  • Scale loose rocks and assess ground conditions for safety.
  • Install or repair mine services and underground installations.
  • Operate underground mining equipment and support ground operations.
  • Read blueprints and rebar schematics to determine specs and quantities.
  • Install compressed air lines, ventilation, and related systems.
  • Perform concrete work and ground support including walls and refuge stations.
  • Other mining and construction tasks as required.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE

Reporting to the Underground Mine Supervisor, you will be part of the Underground Mine Operations Department. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

  • Adhering to all legislated mining regulations and performing the role safely; ensuring Health & Safety is the number one priority;
  • Following all procedures, policies and processes at the mine site and underground workplace;
  • Scale loose rocks and if required have the ability to recognize and recommend to the mine department that they re-evaluate the area for ground conditions to ensure overall safety in specific work area;
  • Installation or repair of mine services and installations in an underground mining environment;
  • Operating various pieces of underground mining equipment which could include scissor decks, aerial work platforms, telehandlers, boom trucks, trans-mixers, shotcrete sprayers LHD’s and other light vehicles;
  • Read, understand, and interpret blueprints as well as rebar schematics to determine specifications and calculate requirements;
  • installation of compressed air lines, process and dewater lines, ventilation fans and hard duct, pumps, miscellaneous construction work with steel and concrete and other tasks assigned;
  • Perform concrete work, and specialized ground support, forming, vent doors, walls, and refuge stations;
  • Other mining and construction related tasks as required.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
  • Must be physically capable of lifting and carrying 50 lbs on a regular basis;
  • Ability to operate LHD’s, Scissor Lifts, Forklifts, Zoom Booms & PC’s. Also have the ability to operate both Shotcrete Pot and Nozzle;
  • Experience with pressure grouting;
  • Operate hand-held drills such as jacklegs and stoppers;
  • previous experience installing ground support is considered an asset;
  • Comprehension reading work instructions with good literacy and numeracy skills -this includes the ability to fill shift reports, documenting work completed;
  • Proficient in the use of Oxy/Ace cutting and SMAW welding processes, is considered an asset;
  • Possession of a valid CWB ticket is considered an asset;
  • Have a strong safety ethic and be able to work collaboratively with other trades personnel and crew members, as well as work independently often with little or no supervision;
  • Full Underground Basic Common Core is considered an asset;
  • Construction Common Core Modules (MU085A, B, C and MU086) is considered an asset;
  • Longhole Loading and Blasting is considered an asset;
  • Capable of effectively working alone or as a team.
Your Work Schedule
  • Schedule: 14/14 schedule at our Detour Lake Mine;
  • Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides transportation to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
Compensation Statement
