You are an experienced Construction Manager with 15+ years of civil construction experience, who will play a key role in the delivery of a rail infrastructure project in Bowmanville, Ontario. Leveraging your expertise, you'll implement project plans, prioritize safety and quality, and delegate tasks effectively to your team.

Essential Responsibilities
  1. Lead by example in health, safety, and environmental standards throughout the project, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and policies.
  2. Develop and implement project schedules with the team to meet milestones and completion dates.
  3. Provide clear direction to team members, distribute workload effectively, and foster development opportunities.
  4. Prepare and manage field change orders, ensuring proper documentation and approvals.
  5. Review invoices against purchase orders, report discrepancies, and coordinate with accounting.
  6. Hire and manage hourly employees, in collaboration with project managers.
  7. Coordinate with engineers and submit RFIs for scope clarification.
  8. Supervise design activities by third-party consultants, ensuring compliance and resolving issues promptly.
  9. Ensure quality of materials and workmanship meets standards.
  10. Maintain financial tracking, reporting, and ensure work is within budget.
  11. Review design and construction documents for constructability and value engineering feedback.
Qualifications
  1. 12-15+ years of civil construction experience, particularly as a Superintendent.
  2. Experience with highways, bridges, roads, and structural infrastructure projects.
  3. Experience with large-scale infrastructure projects for a Canadian general contractor.
  4. Experience in active rail corridor projects, including structural elements like steel, concrete, columns, and beams.
  5. Post-secondary education in civil engineering or related field.
  6. PE license in Ontario is an asset.
  7. Knowledge of Design-Build or Collaborative Contract models is an asset.
  8. Experience with project controls, progress tracking, and reporting.
  9. Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and familiarity with Heavy Bid and Primavera.
  10. Strong communication skills, confident in verbal, written, and electronic interactions.
Working Conditions
  1. Site-based position in Whitby, Ontario.
  2. Occasional travel to downtown Toronto for project needs.
