Job summary

PCL Industrial Management Inc. in Edmonton, Alberta is seeking a Construction Manager to provide leadership for multiple projects or one highly complex project. You will drive safety, schedule, budget, quality, and contract adherence while shaping client relationships and project outcomes.

The role emphasizes mentorship, strategic oversight, and collaboration across disciplines to deliver value, growth, and long-term capability within the Edmonton Industrial Management team.

Qualifications

  • Postsecondary education or training in engineering, construction management, or related discipline.
  • 15+ years of progressive construction experience, including leadership and exposure to multiple contract delivery methods; estimating experience is an asset.
  • Expert knowledge of construction operations, building materials, specifications, methods, sequencing, and quality management for large, complex projects.
  • Advanced understanding of construction laws, building codes, collective agreements, insurance, bonding and legal requirements.
  • Strong strategic business acumen with ability to identify risks, opportunities, staffing needs and labor considerations on complex projects.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage multidisciplinary project teams, coordinate multiple scopes of work and assess trade performance.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, relationship management, conflict resolution and negotiation skills with clients, consultants and internal stakeholders.

  • Creates and influences a strong safety culture by leading through example, mentoring teams, and ensuring compliance with safety, environmental and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversees project execution to ensure construction is delivered in accordance with design, budget, schedule, quality, and contract requirements.
  • Supports business development, pursuits, and preconstruction activities by contributing to estimates, proposals, presentations, and client solutions.
  • Oversees development and implementation of project execution and quality management plans to achieve successful project outcomes.
  • Provides strategic oversight of design coordination, constructability, code compliance, scope management, and technical risk resolution.
  • Monitors project performance and drives achievement of schedule, cost, quality, safety, resource, and productivity objectives.
  • Leads project financial management including forecasting, cost control, change management, progress payments, and profitability.
  • Identifies project risks and implements mitigation strategies to manage commercial, contractual, technical, and operational exposures.
  • Builds and maintains strong client, consultant, subcontractor, and stakeholder relationships while actively managing expectations and project success criteria.
  • Leads, coaches, mentors, and develops project teams, fostering a high-performance culture and supporting succession and workforce planning.
  • Oversees project staffing, resource planning, and organizational effectiveness across all phases of construction.
  • Manages contract administration, claims, disputes, and major project changes to protect project and organizational interests.
