Job summary

Birt and MacKay Construction in Charlottetown, PEI is seeking construction labourers to join our busy team. You will load and unload heavy materials and follow directions from supervisors and skilled tradespeople.

Ideal candidates are physically fit, reliable, and hardworking. A valid driver's license and a high school diploma are required, and prior general labour experience in construction is preferred. You will work outdoors in all weather and contribute to site safety.

Qualifications

• Prior experience as a general labourer in construction is helpful.
• Must be able to perform physical labor and outdoor work in all weather.
• Punctual, reliable and able to work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of hand and power tools as directed by management.
• Clean and prepare construction sites, remove debris and waste materials.
• Shovel materials to and from construction areas.
• Follow all safety procedures on the job site and report violations to management.
• Maintain a safe and clean site by storing materials and tools properly.
• Load and unload construction supplies from trucks manually or with equipment.

Job description

We are a busy construction firm and are always hiring dedicated Construction Labourers to join our team. You will be responsible for loading and unloading frequently heavy materials, and follow directions from supervisors and other skilled tradesmen. To do well in this role you should be physically fit, reliable, and be a hard worker.

Job Responsibilities:

• Operate a variety of hand and power tools, including drills, and other tools as directed by management.
• Clean and prepare construction sites as needed, including , removing and properly disposing of debris and waste materials, and digging trenches.
• Shovel materials to and from construction areas.
• Follow all safety procedures on the job site and report violations immediately to management.
• Maintain a safe and clean job site by handling materials and storing them properly, picking up and removing all tools and equipment when not in use, and securing the job site on a daily basis.
• Load and unload construction supplies from trucks both manually and with the use of equipment.

Job Skills & Qualifications Required:

• Must have a valid driver’s license
• Be at least 18 years of age
• High school diploma
• Ability to do physical labor and other strenuous physical tasks
• Ability to work in all weather
• Workers must be punctual and reliable
• Must have experience as a general laborer in the construction industry
