Job summary

IDL Projects Inc. is seeking a Labourer to join a busy Canadian construction team. The role supports site operations, assists tradespersons, unloads materials, and helps with groundworks and utilities construction under supervision.

You will follow approved plans and safety rules to help deliver projects on time and to a high standard. Requirements include 2+ years in construction or a similar role, familiarity with construction terms, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in a construction environment or a similar role.
• Familiar with construction terms and practices.
• Effective verbal and listening communication skills.
• Ability to understand and execute verbal and written directions.
• Adheres to Health, Safety, & Environmental reporting and standard assessments.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload construction materials, and move materials to work areas.
• Erect and dismantle concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks, shoring, barricades and other items required at construction sites.
• Assist and work with tradespersons and other members of the construction team.
• Assist and work with heavy equipment operators to secure attachments and guide movements.
• Assist in aligning pipes and perform other related activities during underground utilities construction.
• Assist in excavation and backfill and other earthworks activities using shovels and rakes.
• Check slopes for conformance to requirements, using levels or lasers.
• Remove rubble and debris to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
• Operate pneumatic hammers, vibrators and tampers as directed.
• Operate and maintain machines or equipment used in construction such as mixers, compressors and pumps.
• May perform other related duties as required.
