ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN/FIELD INSPECTOR

LOCATION: Vancouver, WA

SALARY: $32.29 per hour

SCHEDULE: Full-Time, Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Temporary 3-6 months

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct field inspections of county construction projects.
• Assist with field surveying, bridge inspections, and GIS/mapping updates.
• Collect data and perform calculations for engineers (e.g., quantities, fills/cuts).
• Complete daily field reports and maintain accurate project documentation.
• Perform quality tests on construction materials (compaction, strength, etc.).

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a combination of education and relevant work experience.
• 2–3 years’ experience in construction inspection, civil engineering, or similar technical fields.
• Familiarity with engineering principles, construction methods, and safety protocols.
• Strong ability to interpret construction drawings and technical specifications.
• Proficiency in surveying instruments, lab test equipment, and basic software tools such as Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Work involves both office and outdoor field environments.
• Must be able to walk uneven terrain, collect physical samples, and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
• Exposure to varying weather conditions during fieldwork.
