Job summary

Sifton Properties is seeking a capable Civil Engineering/Construction professional to join our team in Southwestern Ontario. You will coordinate land development and construction projects from servicing through final buildout, ensuring compliance with plans, budgets, schedules and municipal requirements.

The role involves reviewing submissions, coordinating with contractors and municipalities, reading AutoCAD drawings, and supporting site inspections and progress tracking.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in Civil Engineering, land development, or construction projects.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
• Experience interfacing with external contractors, municipalities, and service providers.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate land development and construction projects per approved plans, budgets, schedules and municipal requirements.
• Assist with tendering activities and contractor coordination.
• Read and interpret construction drawings, municipal standards, and subdivision agreements.
• Coordinate with builders, contractors, consultants, utilities, and municipalities to support progress.
• Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor construction progress and resolve issues.
• Track project schedules, costs, deficiencies, and documentation for municipal acceptance.
• Support construction meetings and clearance documentation.
• Review builder plans to ensure compliance with approved plans and restrictions.
• Provide responsive service to builders, homeowners, contractors, municipalities and stakeholders.
• Follow health and safety policies in active construction environments.

About the Role

• Support the coordination and delivery of neighbourhood land development and construction projects in accordance with approved plans, budgets, schedules, and municipal requirements.
• Assist with tendering activities, contractor coordination, and review of project submissions and deliverables.
• Read and interpret construction drawings, municipal standards, subdivision agreements, and infrastructure requirements.
• Coordinate with builders, contractors, consultants, utility providers, and municipalities to support project progress and lot grading compliance.
• Conduct site visits and neighbourhood inspections to monitor construction progress, identify deficiencies, and support issue resolution.
• Track project schedules, costs, deficiencies, and documentation required for municipal acceptance and assumption.
• Support construction meetings, clearance documentation, and follow-up activities related to active development projects.
• Review builder plans and submissions to help ensure compliance with approved plans, agreements, and development restrictions.
• Provide responsive and professional service to builders, homeowners, contractors, municipalities, and internal stakeholders.
• Follow all health and safety policies and procedures while working in active construction environments.

Experience

• Post-secondary education in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field from an accredited Community College or University.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Civil Engineering, land development, or construction projects. Experience in Ontario land development would be considered an asset.
• Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with external contractors, consultants, utility providers, municipalities, and service providers to support project progress toward defined milestones.
• Strong interpersonal skills with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite. Knowledge of project planning practices and software would be considered an asset.
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret AutoCAD drawings as part of day-to-day work. The ability to amend drawings would be considered an asset.
• Ability to work in safety-sensitive construction zones, including around large machinery and heavy equipment, as required.
• Self-directed and flexible, with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple detailed tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• This position is approximately 30% office/home-based and 70% on-site. Reliable transportation and a valid Ontario driver’s license in good standing are required to travel to multiple project locations throughout Southwestern Ontario.
