Job summary

Aecon is gearing up for new Calgary civil projects and is expanding its Contracts/Legal team. The role focuses on reviewing subcontractor invoices, supporting the Contracts Manager, and applying contract documents to project execution.

You bring a Bachelor's degree, 2–5 years in construction contract administration, and strong drafting, negotiation, and documentation skills. This is a fast-paced environment with growth opportunities in a leading Canadian infrastructure company.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or educational background in Business Administration, Law, Communications, or as a Paralegal preferred.
  • Minimum 2 - 5 years of experience in the construction industry in contract administration.
  • Estimating experience is required.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of legal documents, navigating contracts and interpreting them.
  • Experience in drafting and administering contracts.
  • Display sound judgement and leadership skills.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good interpersonal and analytical skills.
  • Good planning and time management skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products with advanced Word skills.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing subcontractor invoices before submitting to finance.
  • Generally, assist and support the Contracts Manager or a member of the Legal/Commercial group.
  • Assist project staff with the interpretation and practical application of contract documents.
  • Assist project staff with identification, documentation and quantification of changes in the Work and claims.
  • Act as the point of contact for contractual matters on the assigned project.
  • Document significant events on projects.
  • Monitor and maintain project change order log.
  • Coordinate and prepare claims.
  • Draft notices to client of changes or events requiring notice.
  • Interface with project team on site and prepare commercial updates to the project team and clients as required.
