Job summary

Aecon Civil is seeking a Contracts Administrator to support commercial and contract management on major civil works, including the Hamilton LRT – Package 1. You will work with the delivery team to interpret schedules, draft and negotiate contracts, and manage procurement processes to minimize commercial risk.

Ideal candidates will have 3–5 years of contractor experience on large projects, a degree in legal/engineering/quantity surveying, and strong knowledge of construction law, contract

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of construction law, Construction Act, negotiating and drafting construction contracts.
  • Knowledge of project operations, policies, procedures, and strategic direction.
  • Career progression from quantity surveyor would be an advantage.
  • Minimum of 3 years commercial/contract management experience on major projects supporting bid to closeout.

Responsibilities

  • Work with project delivery team to manage commercial/contractual issues.
  • Change management, including schedule interpretation and claims administration.
  • Maintain contractor filing system and administer project contracts; such as, project agreement, contracts, consultancy agreements, and purchase agreements.
  • Ensure all contract deliverables and timelines are met while providing leadership to minimize commercial risk on project contracts.
  • Take part in drafting, review and negotiation of downstream agreements.
  • Monitor procurement scheduling and plans, facilitate competitive tendering and bid analysis.
  • Engage with Aecon’s insurance advisors to develop appropriate project insurance programs.
  • Chair and document progress review meetings with contractors to monitor performance.
  • Support risk management implementation and mitigation plans.
  • Coordinate deliverables with Construction, Project Controls, Finance, etc.
