Job summary

SOAR Community Services in Brantford, ON is seeking a Full Time Concurrent Disorders Clinician for the Addictions and Mental Health program. You will engage in assessments, referrals and individual/group counselling to support people with concurrent disorders and mental health needs.

A strengths-based approach and collaboration with partners are core to the role. The position requires a college diploma in Human or Social Services, active professional registration, and 2+ years of related

Qualifications

• Must hold a college diploma in Human or Social Services; university degree in related Social Sciences preferred.
• Must be registered with a professional body such as College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario or Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.
• Minimum of 2 years' combined education/experience in substance use, concurrent disorders and/or mental health clinical settings.
• Proficient in MS Office and familiar with databases.
• Ability to manage frequent exposure to vicarious traumatic stress.
• Access to reliable transportation; travel may be required.
• Police vulnerable sector check required.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive support to clients.
• Counsell in the community to individuals with concurrent disorders, mental health concerns, and address employment barriers.
• Use cognitive behavioural interventions, motivational interviewing and other evidence-informed modalities.
• Teach skills such as problem-solving, anger management, emotion regulation, and coping strategies.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners for coordinated client care.
• Support a strengths-based service plan based on a comprehensive assessment tool.
• Ensure a safe therapeutic environment and adherence to program expectations.
• Document client care in the client data system and communicate issues within the team.
