Job description

Job Description: Computed Tomography & Medical Imaging Technologist

In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority, patient safety is a priority and a shared responsibility. Continuous improvement in quality and safety is inherent in this position.

Reporting to the Section Head, Site Supervisor, or designate, the Technologist performs specialized procedures such as Computerized Tomography (CT), along with general and additional medical imaging procedures. Responsibilities include:

  1. Receiving and completing requisitions, forms, and reports
  2. Prioritizing workload and preparing/monitoring supplies and equipment
  3. Monitoring patients
  4. Operating acquisition equipment and computerized patient data systems
  5. Archiving acquired images
  6. Assuming in-charge and shift responsibilities, including evenings, weekends, and nights, often working independently
Qualifications: Education, Training, and Experience

Graduation from an approved Radiology Technologist Diploma program, with eligibility for registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT). Recent, relevant experience in radiography and CT, with completion of an accepted CT certificate program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
