Role Overview

We are seeking a lawyer with 5+ years of commercial litigation experience to join our Financial Lines Claims team. You will manage some of Canada's largest and most complex litigation files while maintaining work-life balance.

How You Will Create An Impact

• Manage complex commercial claims including securities class actions, shareholder disputes, professional liability, employment litigation, regulatory actions, fraud investigations, contractual breaches, cybersecurity breaches, and privacy actions.
• Analyze insurance coverage and issue coverage positions for policies like D&O, Professional Liability, Employment Practices Liability, Fidelity, Pension Liability, M&A/Representations & Warranties, and Cyber Insurance.
• Assess financial exposure, set reserves, and present to senior management on high exposure losses.
• Monitor external counsel and ensure compliance with litigation guidelines.
• Provide guidance to underwriters and share risk assessment information.
• Deliver excellent claims service to clients and brokers.
• Collaborate on litigation strategies, attend mediations and pre-trial conferences, negotiate, and settle claims.
• Work within a team of experienced claims professionals and exemplify best practices.

Qualifications

• Law degree with 5+ years of legal practice (preferred).
• Experience in commercial litigation, insurance coverage litigation, or commercial insurance claims handling.
• Ability to work independently, with excellent communication, problem-solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in a paperless environment.
• Location: Toronto or Montreal.
