Job Details: Job Description: The world is transforming - and so is Intel. Intel is a company of bold and curious inventors and problem solvers who create some of the most astounding technology advancements and experiences in the world. With a legacy of relentless innovation and a commitment to bring smart, connected devices to every person on Earth, our diverse and brilliant teams are continually searching for tomorrow's technology and revel in the challenge that changing the world for the better brings. We work every single day to design and manufacture silicon products that empower people's digital lives. Come join us and do something wonderful.

SPECIAL NOTE - Intel is in the process of securing office space in the greater metropolitan area of Toronto, Ontario. This office will serve as your assigned work location in the future. Once the site is operational, your position will follow Intel's hybrid work model, which currently requires on-site presence at least four days per week. Until the office is ready, you will be classified as a remote employee and will be working virtually from the greater metropolitan area of Toronto, Ontario.

Join Us in Shaping the Future At Intel, we are building the next generation of software innovation through the oneAPI software stack, a unified programming model designed to unlock the full potential of heterogeneous computing. Our team is at the forefront of enabling developers worldwide to harness CPUs, GPUs, and accelerators with cutting-edge tools, libraries, and compilers. By joining us, you'll contribute to an open ecosystem that drives performance, scalability, and portability across diverse architectures-empowering breakthroughs in AI, HPC, and beyond. If you're passionate about transforming how the world computes and want to work on technology that truly matters, this is your opportunity to make an impact.

The Team

The Intel Compiler Engineering Team is a high performing team responsible for the industry-leading LLVM-based Intel C, C++, SYCL, and Fortran Compilers. The team consists of leaders in the LLVM community. We are continually pushing the boundaries of compiler technology in support of providing maximally useful and performant compilers for all of Intel's processor platforms, both CPU and GPUs.

Position Overview

We are hiring a Compiler Engineer to work on Intel's offload and SYCL infrastructure within our opensource and closed-source compiler stacks. In this role, you will design and implement core offloading technologies-such as binary formats, device code generation, and next-generation offloading models-that directly enable heterogeneous compute across CPUs, GPUs, and accelerators. Your work will involve deep collaboration upstream with the LLVM and SYCL communities, as well as close partnership across Intel compiler, runtime, performance, and platform teams to deliver production-ready solutions. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy diving deep into complex systems, taking technical ownership in ambiguous problem spaces, and collaborating broadly to move critical technology forward-curiosity, adaptability, and a willingness to learn are essential.

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered aplus factor in identifying top candidates. Experience listed below would be obtained through a combination of your degree, research and/or relevant previous job and or internship experiences.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field and 3+ years of experience OR Master's in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field.

  • The experience must include: C/C++, object-oriented programming, and data structures.

  • Opensource development (contributions to LLVM, SYCL, or similar projects)

  • Foundational understanding of compiler concepts (frontend parsing, IR transformation, code generation, linking)

  • Heterogeneous computing concepts (CPU/GPU programming, offloading models, accelerator architectures)

  • Experience in developing/maintaining production compilers in areas of offloading toolchain, SPIR-V generation, and Clang driver.

  • Expertise in heterogeneous computing architectures (CPU/GPU/NPU) and programming models (SYCL/CUDA/OpenMP)

  • Demonstrated strong problem-solving and debugging.

  • Proven ability to work independently and proactively pursue solutions.
