Job summary

Intel is seeking a seasoned compiler engineer to advance the LLVM/Clang-based stack, contribute to open-source initiatives, and collaborate with the Clang/LLVM community. The role focuses on building compiler components, enhancing optimization passes, and ensuring performance across Intel CPU and GPU platforms.

Candidates should demonstrate hands-on compiler development, strong C/C++, and a proven OSS track record.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in CS/Applied Math/Inf or related field with 5+ years experience, or Master's with 3+ years experience.
  • Hands-on compiler development experience.
  • Proven history of open-source contributions, especially to Clang.
  • Core LLVM expertise, including building compilers or LLVM components.
  • Experience with optimization passes, code generation, or frontend integration.
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
  • Intermediate-level C/C++ with deep language construct knowledge.
  • OneAPI or similar vendor toolchain development preferred.
  • Participation in standards committees (C, C++, Khronos) preferred.
  • Must live and work in Canada.

Job description

  • Develop new features for Intel's open-source compiler stack
  • Enable the latest language standards
  • Collaborate upstream with members of the Clang open-source community
  • Collaborate across the industry to deliver effective compiler solutions
  • Build compilers or compiler components using the LLVM framework
  • Contribute to Intel's LLVM-based C, C++, SYCL, and Fortran compilers
  • Support compiler performance, scalability, and portability across Intel CPU and GPU platforms
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Informatics or a related technical discipline and 5+ years of experience OR Master's in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Informatics or related technical fields and 3+ years of experience
  • Experience in C/C++, object-oriented programming, and data structures
  • Hands-on compiler development experience
  • Demonstrated history of technical contributions to open-source projects
  • Demonstrated history of technical contributions to Clang (commit history, patches, reviews)
  • Core LLVM expertise, including hands-on experience building compilers or compiler components using the LLVM framework
  • Experience with optimization passes, code generation, or frontend integration
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
  • Ability to proactively pursue solutions
  • Intermediate-level C/C++ with deep understanding of language constructs
  • oneAPI or similar vendor toolchain development is a preferred qualification
  • Participation in standards committees (C, C++, Khronos, etc.) is a preferred qualification
  • Must live and work in Canada
