Job summary

Lions Housing Centres Inc. seeks Casual Tenant Companions for its Supportive Housing department in Winnipeg.

You will foster tenant independence by providing compassionate support with daily living activities and engage residents in recreational programs. Responsibilities include observing and reporting health or cognitive changes, assisting with medications reminders, and promoting dignity and self-esteem.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Valid Food Handlers Certificate.
• Experience with Older Adults with Dementia.
• Able to read, write and speak English.
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate support with activities of daily living while promoting tenant independence.
• Observe, document, and report changes in health or cognition to the manager.
• Assist with ambulation and safe use of equipment as needed.
• Provide reminders for medications and appointments and encourage participation in leisure activities.
• Assist with meal planning, dining supervision, and safe food handling.
