Job summary

The St. Clair Catholic District School Board is seeking a Casual/Call-in Educational Assistant to support students with diverse learning needs under the direction of school staff.

This role involves helping individuals or small groups, assisting with personal care, and contributing to inclusive classroom activities. You will collaborate with teachers, support personal care, and help implement educational programs in a caring and confidential school environment.

Qualifications

• Completion of a 2-year program related to Childhood Education (e.g., Developmental Service Worker, Social Service Worker, Early Childhood Educator, Child and Youth Care).
• Formal education in related fields (e.g., Sociology, Psychology, Disability Studies, Nursing, Police Foundation) will be considered.
• Minimum of one-year previous work experience preferred.
• Education and experience working with children diagnosed with Autism is an asset.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to students that may have physical, developmental, medical, communication and/ or behaviour needs.
• Supervise and implement daily routines.
• Implement teacher designed instruction programs.
• Attend to the physical care needs of students, including toileting and hygiene, feeding, physical exercise, communication, life skills, and positioning.
• Work effectively as part of the school team; communicating with teachers and students, as appropriate.
