The Mission Public School District is seeking Casual Education Assistants to support classroom teachers by reinforcing lessons and assisting students in individual or small-group settings. Work may involve personal care and mobility assistance on an on-call basis, with hours assigned as needed.

Under supervision of the teacher and school administrator, Educational Assistants help with behavior, social and academic skills, using prepared plans and materials.

Qualifications

• Completion of a recognized certificate in Special Education Assistant or equivalent post‑secondary education of one (1) year.
• Valid B.C. Class 5 driver’s license.
• There may be a requirement for a specific skill or course such as First Aid, Non‑violent Crisis Intervention, Applied Behaviour Analysis or Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Responsabilités

• Assist with individual or small group instruction to develop basic academic and social skills.
• Support students with personal care and daily living activities as required.
• Provide general classroom assistance to organize student work and monitor progress.
• Attend classes where students are integrated to provide assistance to the student and teacher.
