Job summary

Cogir Senior Living is seeking a Health Care Aide for a 7am-3pm shift on the 5th floor, line 4, in Edmonton. Temporary until approximately Oct 2027.

Responsibilities include assisting with personal care, meal prep, mobility, and supporting residents’ emotional, social and cognitive needs while maintaining confidentiality. The ideal candidate is a Graduate of a Health Care Aide program with relevant senior care experience and strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

• Graduate of Health Care Aide program with 500 hours practicum in Ontario & Alberta.
• Experience working with seniors in community health services.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrated organizational and time management skills.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support and First Aid certification recommended.
• Ability to perform lifting/transferring tasks.
• Vulnerable Sector Check or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to the plan of care as directed by the supervisor.
• Assist with resident move-ins and transfers when applicable.
• Observe and report on resident care using company forms or tools.
• Assist with personal care and activities of daily living.
• Report changes in residents’ condition to supervisor.
• Escalate medical emergencies to supervisor or EMS as appropriate.
• Prepare nutritious meals as required.
• Assist with ambulation, mobilization, transferring and adaptive aids.
• Provide cognitive, social, emotional and psychological support to residents and families.
• Maintain confidentiality of resident information.
• Respond to resident/family concerns and escalate as needed within authority.
• Maintain a safe and clean environment and nursing equipment.
• Engage with other agencies involved in resident care as directed.
• Attend in-services to develop knowledge and skills.
• Uphold ethics, morality and integrity; work in a position of trust with vulnerable adults.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
