Simaril Inc. supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in community-based settings in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

The Outreach Support Mentor provides one-on-one support within SIL, Outreach, and Respite programs, typically meeting 3–5 individuals per shift, collaborating with a team to meet support plans and empower goals. The role emphasizes compassionate care, strong communication, and advocacy, with preference for female candidates for role alignment with residents.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma (minimum)
• Some post-secondary courses in the social services field (preferred)
• 2 years' experience working with adults with an intellectual disability
• Knowledge of disabilities, disorders, and mental health issues
• Excellent communication skills
• Advocacy skills
• Flexibility

Responsibilities

• Connecting with community resources (food banks, clothing resources, etc.)
• Attending medical appointments
• Managing medication regimes
• Grocery shopping
• Learning how to take the bus
• Bill payments and money management
• Supporting individuals to acquire and maintain productive roles (employment, volunteering, programming, etc.)
• Accessing programming
• Recreational opportunities (skating, swimming, sporting events, etc.)
