Job summary

OneSky Community Resources is seeking a Medical Office Assistant to support the Martin Street Outreach Clinic and Urgent & Primary Care Centre in Penticton. This casual role focuses on administrative and clerical duties to ensure smooth clinic operations and a welcoming environment for patients.

You will handle scheduling, patient records, billing, and data entry while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. Experience with EMR systems and strong English communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Medical Office Assistant Certificate/Diploma or equivalent education/experience.
• Experience supporting vulnerable populations (mental health, substance use, socio-economic challenges).
• Trauma-informed practice training is an asset.
• Strong customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Excellent time management, multitasking, and organizational abilities.
• Proficient in English (written and verbal).
• EMR experience with Med Access and/or Meditech; MS Word/Excel proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Maintain efficient clinic operations through scheduling, document preparation, and provider support.
• Facilitate telephone conferencing and meetings as directed by Clinic Manager and Providers.
• Collect and manage incoming forms for Providers; ensure timely completion.
• Chart documents into patient charts using Med Access; prepare referrals and medical documentation.
• Submit billing through Teleplan/MSP; manage third‑party billings (e.g., WCB, ICBC, RCMP, DVA).
• Maintain patient records and filing; manage calls, emails, and faxes; relay messages.
• Receive and record patient payments; issue receipts.
• Participate in data collection, evaluation, and quality assurance activities.
