Buffalo Trail Public Schools is seeking a dedicated Educational Assistant to join Edgerton Public School in Edgerton, Alberta. The role supports students in a inclusive learning environment, under the direction of teachers and a multidisciplinary team.

The position targets individuals with a diploma in education assistant programs and experience with special needs, including personal care and safety responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Childhood or Educational Assistant programs preferred.
• Experience with individuals with special needs.
• Familiarity with supporting individuals who experience language delays, behavioral challenges, emotional dysregulation, and motor delays.
• Training in SIVA or non-violent crisis intervention is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Deliver educational instruction tailored to the needs of identified students.
• Assist in student data collection, monitor progress, and provide observations to teachers.
• Modify materials to meet individual or group needs.
• Support students in developing academic, social, behavioral, and life skills.
• Assist with integration and transitions within the school system or into work/community environments.
• Attend to students' personal needs including feeding, hygiene, toileting, and care as required.
• Participate in professional learning and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Supervise students during instructional and non-instructional times.
• Advocate for students and share program information with staff.
