Job summary

Northwood is seeking a dynamic Dietary Aide to provide quality meal service for residents across sites. Reporting to the Manager of Food and Nutrition Services, you will support dining room service, food preparation, and meal delivery with attention to safety and presentation.

The role requires a High School diploma, 2–3 years in food service, and the ability to lift 50 lbs. Immediate start; 12-hour shifts, biweekly schedule, and union-negotiated benefits under Unifor.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Two to three years food service experience preferably in a long term health care facility.
• Certificate in Food Service Workers Course considered an asset.
• Basic Food Safety Certification considered an asset.
• Experience working with the elderly within a decentralized meal service system considered an asset.
• Must be able to lift 50lbs at a time.
• Ability to maintain regular and consistent attendance.

Responsibilities

• Prepares beverages, food items and special products according to job routines.
• Provides efficient dining room service, including set up, serving, and sanitation in decentralized dining sites.
• Prepares food products, drinks and other related items according to established standards including menus and recipes.
• Provides quality table service to residents with diet modifications and supplements as indicated.
• Co-operates with the resident’s nursing RNCL and reports concerns to the Food Service Supervisor.
• Maintains sanitation and operates dish machines at unit level and cleans dining areas.
• Ensures accurate portion sizes and prompt distribution of prepared foods to designated service areas.
