Job summary

City of Toronto is seeking a Community Development Officer to support mobilization of risk-driven interventions and strengthen inter-sectoral partnerships. You will work with FOCUS Toronto and community partners to promote safety and well-being across districts.

The role involves coordinating programs, policy development, and capacity building with staff and stakeholders to address evolving community needs and vulnerabilities.

Qualifications

• Degree in Sociology, Social Work, Community Health Promotion, or related field or approved equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
• Experience in community development and building coalitions across sectors.
• Ability to work with diverse communities and address equity, trauma-informed approaches.

Responsibilities

• Provide community development services to elected officials, volunteers, managers, staff, and coalitions.
• Navigate complex situations with risk factors including mental health, housing instability, and violence.
• Co-chair and facilitate partnership tables with United Way Toronto and Toronto Police Service to enhance collaboration.
