Job summary

Northern Health in Fort St. John is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist to join the Community Respiratory Therapy team. You will deliver community-based respiratory services, promote respiratory health, and support patient education.

Reporting to the Team Lead, Interprofessional Teams, you will assess, test, treat and rehabilitate patients, develop care plans, and help with disease self-management. A strong work ethic and CPR certification are required.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
  • Successful completion of the CBRC credentialing exam.
  • Eligible for CSRT and BCSRT membership.
  • Two years' recent related experience in respiratory home care, or equivalent.
  • Current CPR certification.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver community respiratory services within Northern Health.
  • Promote respiratory health and assess patients.
  • Perform diagnostic testing, education, treatment and rehabilitation.
  • Formulate and document respiratory care plans.
  • Develop self-management strategies for respiratory diseases.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for you to bring your excellent work ethic to our Primary Care team.

Reporting to the Team Lead, Interprofessional Teams, the Community Respiratory Therapist is responsible for the delivery of Community Respiratory Services within Northern Health including promotion of respiratory health, assessment, diagnostic testing, education, treatment and rehabilitation of patients with respiratory dysfunction. Formulates and documents respiratory care plans and disease self-management strategies.

Shift Rotation/Hours of work

Monday to Friday / Days 08:30 to 16:30

Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program. Successful completion of the Canadian Board of Respiratory Care (CBRC) credentialing exam. Eligible for membership with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT) and the British Columbia Society of Respiratory Therapists (BCSRT). Two years' recent related experience in respiratory home care, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Current CPR certification.
  • Valid BC driver’s license and access to personal vehicle for work related purposes.

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to educate patients on effective respiratory disease management.
