Job summary

Interior Health is seeking a permanent part-time Community Respiratory Therapist in Vernon. The role supports respiratory therapy services in hospital and community settings, with a 0.95 FTE schedule.

The position offers competitive pay aligned with experience, plus recruitment incentives up to $15,000 and relocation assistance where eligible. You will collaborate with physicians, nurses and rehabilitation teams to provide education, treatment and devices for respiratory health.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a recognized Respiratory Therapy program.
• Successful completion of the HPTC Credentialing Exam.
• Eligible for CSRT/BCSRT membership.
• Two years' recent experience in pulmonary rehab, asthma education, respiratory home care, home ventilation, home oxygen, and sleep-disordered breathing screening.
• Current valid BC driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Promote respiratory health in community and hospital settings.
• Assess, educate, treat, and rehabilitate patients with respiratory dysfunction.
• Demonstrate procedures to other health care professionals and students.
• Use respiratory equipment or perform special procedures.

The Community Respiratory Therapist works within the hospital and community to deliver respiratory therapy services and programs related to Community Respiratory Therapy:

• The promotion of respiratory health
• The assessment, education, treatment and rehabilitation of patients with respiratory dysfunction
• Communicating and demonstrating community and hospital based respiratory care procedures to other health care professionals and students
• The use of respiratory equipment or special procedures

Qualfications

• Graduation from a recognized program in Respiratory Therapy
• Successful completion of the Health Professionals Testing Canada (HPTC) Credentialing Exam.
• Eligible for membership with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT) and the British Columbia Society of Respiratory Therapists (BCSRT).
• Two years’ recent experience in pulmonary rehabilitation, asthma education, respiratory home care, home ventilation, home oxygen, and sleep disordered breathing screening, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Current valid BC driver’s license.
