Job summary

Qualifications

  • Minimum Grade 12 diploma and a disabilities studies certificate/diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Current Standard First Aid CPR/AED – Level C certification required.

What The Role Provides You

We offer semi-fixed schedules that may change based on clients' needs, paid training, development, coaching, free parking, mileage where applicable, statutory holidays, and agency complimentary hours off per year.

As a Community Resource Worker, you would engage in enjoyable community activities, build meaningful relationships, and make a positive impact on individuals’ and their families’ lives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate and support clients in implementing and evaluating personal plans and goals
  • Identify progressive steps towards roles and goals
  • Provide an engaging and positive environment for clients
  • Support team development within individual teams, across teams, inter-agency, intra-agency, and the community
  • Provide personal care as needed
  • Provide behaviour support and follow outlined behaviour plans, as required
  • Support clients in accessing resources regarding augmentative communication, if required
  • Facilitate the development of relationships and natural supports
  • Attend all required workshops and re-certifications
  • Complete required documentation within outlined timeframes (e.g., case notes, medical reports, incident reports, timesheets)
  • Attend all required meetings and planning sessions
  • Ensure full understanding and working knowledge of the ‘Community Resource Worker Position Profile’
  • Maintain awareness of and adhere to agency policies and procedures; work in accordance with Creating Excellence Together (CET) standards
What You Bring To The Role
  • Disabilities studies certificate/diploma or similar education or equivalent experience, with a minimum Grade 12 diploma
  • Current Standard First Aid CPR/AED – Level C
  • Driver’s license (and vehicle) are assets
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Outlook
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Participation in self-development activities to ensure ongoing learning and professionalism
  • Knowledge of or experience in community inclusion
  • Ability to support adult clients
  • Ability to identify issues requiring advocacy and advocate for clients and people with disabilities
  • Ability to coordinate and access appropriate services and supports with clients
  • Experience providing personal care
  • Lift and transfer experience is an asset
  • Experience supporting clients with challenging behaviours
